Cadillac revealed their latest design study dubbed “Opulent Velocity”.
Opulent Velocity is, according to Bryan Nesbitt, executive director, Global Cadillac Design, “It’s the future vision of luxury performance, incorporating Cadillac’s leadership in hands-free driving capabilities, electrification and performance excellence. Opulent Velocity expresses the most artful integration of technology, luxury and exhilaration characterized by Cadillac’s halo V-Series variants, and future electrification design expressions.”
According to the press release, Opulent Velocity is seen as an expression of a Level 4 autonomous vehicle providing the ‘user’ the “maximum thrill of a hypercar vehicle, while keeping the sense of luxury that has become synonymous with Cadillac V-Series.” Their words not mine.
The design takes inspiration from Cadillac’s Blackwing track-proven performance. The press release mentions an ‘authentic track experience that conceptualizes a “Ghost Car’ function that “allows drivers to improve their lap times or compete against pers on various designated tracks.”
Opulent Velocity styling incorporates 3D printing technology, flax fibers, digital fabrication, along side traditional craftsmanship. A link to the press release can be found after the video.
