Audi launches A6 e-tron in US without Avant edition

What is it?

This is the fully electric Audi A6 e-tron. The US will see it in Sedan and Sportback versions. The Avant version will not make the boatride.

Key Features

The A6 e-tron is built on the PPE platform, the same platform under the recently released Porsche Macan. So expect a serious performance, battery, and range increase over products derived from the MEB platform (Q4 e-tron SUV and Sportback).

Some of the key features to arrive with the new A6 series:

  • Predictive thermal management
  • 100kWh battery (94.9kWh usable)
  • 800 volt architecture
  • 270kW DC charging (10 to 80 percent in 21 minutes)

Audi claims a range of up to 758 kilomieters in Sportback trim. That’s a whopping 469 miles!

The A6 and S6 variants incorporate new lighting signatures for improved areo. Drag coefficients are markedly low.

The Green Car Geek’s Take

Love the what Audi has done with the ID.7. Better, I love the Avant. Sadly, Audi says they are not considering the Avant for the US market. And that sucks.

Audi wagons have a long history here in the US as some of the most appealing cars on the road with performance-tuned engines and suspensions. Others can speak in more detail to this than I, but I have always had a thing VW’s wagon offerings. Had VW offered a wagon version of the e-Golf, I’d be driving one now instead of the Kia Niro EV I’m currently sporting.

Crossed-fingers Audi has a change of heart and allows us to enjoy this version of the wonderful e-tron. Hell, just bring over the ID.7 estate. That’ll work!
